STEAM education is one of the fastest growing and most in-demand areas worldwide. In this context, augmented reality (AR) has become an increasingly promising tool to enhance STEAM education and make it more interactive and engaging for students. EduAR is a repository of AR resources applied to STEAM education that offers a wide variety of resources and tools for students, researchers and teachers.

EduAR (www.eduar.net) has undergone a rigorous validation process that included the participation of researchers, teachers and students. The EduAR resources were evaluated through different focus groups that focused on assessing the quality, usefulness and effectiveness of the resources. The validation results indicate that the EduAR resources are of high quality, very useful for teachers, researchers and students to enhance the understanding of STEM concepts through AR.
EduAR resources are categorized into apps, articles and authoring platforms, as well as news, communities and other AR resources to make STEAM teaching more interactive and engaging. The authoring tools give teachers the opportunity to learn about resources that they can also use to create their own customized AR resources to tailor their teaching to the specific needs of their students. EduAR is easy to use and freely available, making it accessible to anyone interested in using it.

Previous studies also support the effectiveness of AR in STEM education. A study by Yang and Chang (2018) found that the use of AR in physics teaching improved students' academic performance and motivation. Another study by Lopez et al. (2020) found that the use of AR in biology teaching improved students' understanding of and attitude toward the subject.

In conclusion, EduAR is a repository of AR resources applied to STEAM education validated by researchers, teachers, and students. EduAR resources are of high quality, very useful for STEAM teaching and effective in improving the understanding of STEAM concepts. EduAR is easy to use and freely available, making it accessible to anyone interested in using it. Previous studies also support the effectiveness of AR in STEAM teaching, making EduAR a valuable tool for STEAM education of the future.

Session outcomes and takeaways:Participants in this session can expect to gain a comprehensive understanding of the potential of augmented reality (AR) in STEAM education through the EduAR repository. They will learn about the wide range of resources available and how they have been rigorously validated by researchers, educators, and students.

Through engaging demonstrations, participants will experience the power of AR firsthand. They will witness how AR can transform traditional teaching methods by creating immersive and interactive learning environments. By exploring 3D models, videos, and animations, participants will discover how AR can enhance student engagement and comprehension of complex STEM concepts.

The session will actively engage participants through interactive activities and discussions. They will have the opportunity to share their experiences, insights, and challenges related to integrating AR into their teaching practices. The facilitators will provide practical examples and strategies for effectively incorporating AR into the classroom, promoting collaborative learning, and fostering student creativity and problem-solving skills.

By the end of the session, participants will have advanced their understanding of open education by recognizing the potential of AR as an innovative tool for creating inclusive and interactive learning environments. They will leave with practical ideas, resources, and insights to integrate AR into their own teaching practices, ultimately enhancing student engagement, motivation, and achievement in STEAM education.
